BIO4AFRICA, a new European project to support the deployment of the bioeconomy in Africa
BIO4Africa will support the deployment of the bioeconomy in rural Africa via the development of bio-based solutions and value chains with a circular approach to drive the cascading use of local resources and diversify the income of farmers. Our focus is on transferring simple, small-scale, and robust bio-based techs adapted to local biomass, needs and contexts, including green biorefinery, pyrolysis, hydrothermal carbonisation, briquetting, pelletising, bio-composites, and bioplastics production.

Scientific communication or mediation, particularly those linked to wood, forest and environmental sciences, have to consider the public as essential actors, by inviting them to participate in scientific thinking. This opening towards the wider public will help to better prepare them for the evolutions of their scientific environment while developing a critical and rational thinking. This will lead all citizens to participate in a responsible manner in the major societal and environmental issues. It is therefore by introducing science into society, and reciprocally, that scientific and societal evolutions will be better understood and accepted by everyone.
