Many biomasses can be used in energy production: wood and by-products of forestry harvesting, primary agricultural residues such as straw, corn cobs, rice husks, vegetable oils, etc., as well as residues from food-processing (cakes, olive pomace, fruit kernels, seed shells, etc.).
