Platforms & Equipment

Last update: 20 July 2023

The activities carried out on the valorization of plant biomasses and co-products of transformation processes in the form of bioproducts are based on equipment and testing devices specific to each field of expertise of the team (process engineering, materials science, chemistry and biochemistry, environmental assessment). The biomasses studied are mainly tropical and temperate woods, natural rubber and co-products of transformation processes. These resources are organized into four laboratories: physical and mechanical characterizations, wood preservation, extractions and biochemical analyses, machining center.

The research unit carries out physical and mechanical characterization tests on wood, manufactured wood products, natural rubber, and other lignified plants (coconut, bamboo, etc.). The tests, which results are stored in our databases, are carried out according to standards, adapted procedures and specific expertise.

From logs and sawn timbers, wood samples are produced by the sawing and machining workshop to feed our wood laboratories (anatomy, physics, mechanics, natural durability, chemistry…). The workshop has all necessary woodworking machines to produce all types of wood products and samples from both tropical and temperate species.
