Implementing energy solutions in tropical environments

Last update: 8 March 2023

The technical and socio-economic contexts in which energy technologies can be implemented are highly diversified and it is essential to understand these contexts prior to technology transfer.

This calls for expertise in:

  • Analysing the demand for electrical energy, thermal energy, bio-combustibles and biofuels from economic operators, populations, and groups of consumers
  • Quantifying and characterizing available biomasses or biomasses that can potentially be produced locally
  • Analysing the matching of energy conversion processes to the demand for energy and the available biomass resource, with a view to their implementation under successful technical, economic and social conditions in the context of each project in a tropical country
  • Addressing the conditions for technologies to be transferred and taken on board, particularly in rural area
  • Analysing the technical-economic feasibility of the proposed energy solutions in a specific environment.
